"Single Out The Singles" Contest

For all Jars of Clay enthusiasts and any others who can't turn down a challenge to test their mental acuity... In our October 2001 contest, we asked you to list all 13 of Jars of Clay's number one Christian Radio singles in the order they reached Number One... from 1996 to the most recent. We even made this cinchy, by offering the following reference clues for each song.

Our winner for this contest is Joel Shepherd. Congratulations! Joel won this very large close-up poster of Jars from 1997.

ANSWERS APPEAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.

Each Numbered Clue below describes one of Jars' Number One Singles...  *Graphic clues are randomly scattered in no apparent order!   Good Luck!

1.  References to botanical species, sprinting, and heavenly bodies.  (The ever present closeness of God, Our Father)

2.  References to clouds, upward gazes, spoken and heard recognition of God.  (Praise to Our Lord for his comforting power)

3. References to spinning threads, saints, and fear of God.  (False reassurance and denying God)

4.  References to crushed minds, dangling feet, and dark ominous skies.  (Desperate plea for God's assistance for survival)

10.  References to queens, wolves, salt, and fractured climbing structures.  (Turning to God, only at the point of utter frustration and ultimate despair)

11.  References to trances, shackles, and monochromatic vision. (Wrestling with doubt through faith)

12. References to God's elemental creation of man, unquestioning certainty, and uncomparable pain and brokenness.  (The awesome reality of Jesus Christ's purpose on earth)
