GRAMMY!!! NOT TOO SHABBY!

Wednesday, February 21st marked the thirty fourth time The National Recording Academy honored the music industry with the Grammy Awards, and also marked the second time Jars of Clay took a Grammy Award home! The Grammy is the only peer-presented award to honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall At the 2001 Grammy Awards!excellence in the recording industry, including production and engineering, without regard to album sales or chart position.

After receiving their award, Jars of Clay were interviewed by Bradley Jay from Westward One.

BJ: Bradley Jay... It's the Grammys. We're with Westward One with Jars of Clay! You guys have a freaky, freaky sound. Where does it come from?

Steve Mason: Initially it was break beats, and acoustic guitars, which didn't make sense. And that kind of morphed, on this last record, into some deep fried... strange...

Dan Haseltine: Oxford, Mississippi fried...

BJ: Crazy people like you are not supposed to be winning awards in the straight world! That's tremendous! Maybe the world is changing...?

Steve: You know we'd like to think so. We're just hoping to make music that will inspire people. As Dan said earlier, there's so much apathy in music. We hope to give people something they can latch on to and believe in.

BJ: So far, so good. You absolutely have! And congratulations!

Jars: Thank you.
